activation lock bypass

Server version: 7.0.10 (rev 9932)

firewall rule

Protocol              TCP Port              Destination                                                              Comment                                                                   Optional?

HTTPS                   443                   deviceservices-external.apple.com (17.0.0.0/8)       Apple Activation Lock Bypass for supervised devices      YES

Do you have instructions on how set up on the server level? No documentation found on the knowledge base articles. lots of questions no direct answers. I read the entire Sophos Mobile Control Installation guide for Product version:6 it talks about rule but not how to implement or use this feature. (Any help would be appreciated)

  • Hi Jesus,

first of all you should be aware that the Activation Lock Bypass can only be used on supervised devices.

You have to enable this feature within your SMC customer. How to do this is described in the manual here.

Once that is done, you have a new option within the "Actions" menu.
This Action can be used if a device was reset and is still listed within the "Devices" list of the SMC server.

As soon as the device entry is removed, using this feature is not possible anymore.

    Best regards
    Stefan
