password problems on a apple Ipad Air 2

I am installing the sophos mobile control app (from Sophos Central) on an Ipad Air 2.  I have all affected policy settings for password set to 4 digit PIN.  This particular device, unlike the other Ipads and Iphones I've put the app on, won't take our standard pin.  It says that "sequential numbers not allowed". 

As soon as the sophos agent is installed, it says I have 60 minutes to change the lock code.  When using our standard lock code, it says that "sequential numbers not allowed".  This is the only device throwing this error.
