Is there confirmation that interceptx is effective in protecting against the windows task scheduler zero-day flaw?

Is there confirmation that interceptx is effective in protecting against the windows task scheduler zero-day flaw?

There is malware now exploiting this zero-day and it's in the wild.

I can't find anything from Sophos on the website that even acknowledges this zero-day event.

Sophos,  please give us a written position please.

  • Hi Necromater,

This new vulnerability is not yet detected by the exploit protection features in Intercept X, it is being investigated though. However this does not mean Intercept X wouldn't prevent malware using this technique. The Deep Learning technology included in Intercept X has the power to detect previously unknown (and zero day) malware.

If you have malware samples you would like analyzed by Sophos please submit them via the web form here: https://secure2.sophos.com/en-us/support/submit-a-sample.aspx

We advise you continue to monitor Microsoft for a response to the vulnerability as they will most likely be releasing a patch for it soon.
