Comparison Failure

Hello,

we're having a problem with 2 machines showing the following error message: comparison failure. I already checked the services that needs to be running and they seem to be. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Sophos on the client machine. But the message keeps showing. It seems the Sophos is updating on the client machine, but it doesn't communicate it towards the enterprise console. The console is running version 5.3.1 and the client pc is running version 10.6.4.1150.

Any suggestions?

Jo

  • Hello Jo,

    it doesn't communicate it
the status is reported by the endpoint when it compares its local (AV) policy with the one from the console and encounters some error. Can't remember what exactly has to fail to be considered as Comparison failure (instead of Differs from ...). Apparently the problem persists. If the Last message time is recent (and other columns are updated) it does communicate.

Please see How to analyze verbose logging for 'Differs from policy' errors - the procedure is the same. You don't have to run SDU, inspecting the Agent log in %ProgramData%\Sophos\Remote Management System\3\Agent\Logs\ (if necessary post the relevant part here) should suffice.
