Instance ID and Model ID - Sophos Central

Hi,

What is the difference between Model ID and Instance ID, I am finding that we keep having to exempt the same Model of Printer and wondered if I should be doing Instance ID so it does all of them?

Hello Dan Petford,

not sure whether Central (now) uses the term Instance ID., from SESC I'm familiar with Device_ID. Anyway, Model should be the general identifier. The Enforce by should let you select whether an exemption should apply to like devices or just a specific one.

Hi Dan,

Model ID is equal to the GUID the device shows on the computer. The Instance is shows the type (e.g USB Printer).

So you were on the right track. Please, try out enforcing by Instance and see if that helps.
