****On my setup window, the "Sophos Client Firewall" was selected by default.
It's my day 2 on my training and I messed up when I was installing Sophos in a government enterprise where I wrongly typed the group path.
Instead of typing \SOPHOS-CONSOLE\MOE*** I typed \SOPHOS-CONSOLE\NOE*** and I pressed enter. I did copy-paste on the first PC then I thought I remembered the name correctly and typed it all wrong on the other 8 PCs.
The Antivirus installed successfully without any error but the path was incorrect. Please help me to fix it. I'm in a bad situation because it's the government computers.
I only realised it when I was home but it's too late to fix it today so. I need to wait until Monday. I hope it's easy to fix.
*I just need to rename the red part above.
Hi Rohan Lukhoo
Would you please move this post to Endpoint Security Control Group? Or If you can subscribe to that group, I will be able to move this post to that group.
In reply to Jaydeep:
Can you help me to fix this???
Hello Rohan Lukhoo,
the endpoint appears in the console either in the wrong group (if the incorrect name does exist) or in Unassigned. Guess the server administrator might already have noticed (unless you are the admin).
Normally the admin takes action and moves the endpoint to the correct group (or starts an investigation).
Or see: Sophos Endpoint Security and Control: Moving a computer between groups in Enterprise Console from the endpoint
In reply to Rohan Lukhoo:
If the endpoint is installed correctly on the machine, the path should be correct as it needs installation files from that particular path.
If you still have confusion that it was incorrect, please check the update of the endpoint. If it is successfully updated, it means path mentioned is correct.
Please let us know whether the update has been completed successfully or not.
In reply to Jasmin:
I know I typed it wrong when my friend told me it's wrong. I feel terrible about it.
I right-clicked on the antivirus icon and clicked view updates and it showed downloading 1 of 8. The window closed after the downloading 8 of 8 or installing package 8 of 8.
How could it work it I did not type the group path correctly?
Also, I remember the option "Open Sophos" was greyed out on some pcs mainly on windows 7.
Can you try with Administrator Login to see if they are still Grayed out?
In reply to SAJ:
No Sorry. The computers are in the office where I deployed the Antivirus. I cannot have access there again.
In reply to QC:
My Team Leader is the administrator. If he fixed it then no worries. But I will not be paid for mistakes. What can I do after all it was my mistake :(
There is nothing wrong you did that you cannot correct it. As Christian Suggested use the article to move the computer between groups in Enterprise Console-Left side pane, you can drag and drop the computer to the correct group and you will be good.
Setting the value in the setup UI just writes a reg key for the Sophos Agent service to read later.
You can move the computer from the client by just re-creating this key and restarting the Agent as detailed here:https://community.sophos.com/products/endpoint-security-control/f/sophos-endpoint-software/8722/auto-set-group-for-new-computers
Might help in this scenario.
