Problem with disabling Tamper Protection - SED Tamper Protection password is not currently being used

Good afternoon everyone,

after a server migration we have the following problem:

Some clients still have the old update server in the configuration. To adapt the configuration to the new server, we have created a script with the Endpoint Migration Utility. Now we want to execute the script, but the tamper protection is still active on the clients. The old server is no longer available. So the clients have no connection to he old and to the new server.. Is there a way to disable tamper protection with a script?

I have already tested the following:

"C:\Program Files\Sophos\Endpoint Defense\SEDcli.exe" -TPoff password

There I get the following error message:

SED Tamper Protection password is not currently being used

The password I entered for the TP is definitely the correct one.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thank you!

  • Hello ,

Did you enable Enhanced Tamper Protection? What's the output of SEDcli.exe -s? AFAIK you can enable/disable Enhanced (and only Enhanced) TP on an endpoint with SEDcli.exe
