we are having an issue that saving an office document to our network share takes about 20s (even if the file is tiny). This does not happen when copying the file to the drive directly (outside of office) or when saving other file types. Also when deactivating 'scan on write' or excluding external paths from being scanned the issue goes away, but both solutions are obviously not ideal.
It's a pure windows environment with clients being windows 7 and windows 10 and the file server is a windows 2012r2 machine. The paths are mapped network drives and everything is connected via gbit cable.
Is there a workaround or fix I could apply?
Thank you for your help!
Are you managing your client via Sophos Enterprise Console or Sophos Central?
In reply to Haridoss Sreenivasan:
actually neither. We deployed the clients alongside our Sophos UTM and all clients are registered there.
Does that help?
I'm having the same problem. When you disable the Ransonware module the problem does not occur.

As we would need to investigate further to provide a solution, please open a support ticket via Sophserv or Web form.
Did you get a solution to this issue? We're having the same problem.
In reply to DaveHamer:
Hi, sorry for the late response.
An actual solution could not be found. We simply had to set the clients to exclude scanning of network shares, which is not ideal. The fileserver still scans the files anyway since they are local to it.
In reply to Nicholas de Laczkovich:
Thanks for taking the time to reply Nicholas!
Our situation seems to be that Cryptoguard on the Server is the issue, turning Client AV scanning off does not seem to affect the issue.
I've raised a ticket with Sophos Support and will update this thread with my outcome just in case anyone else has the issue!
