Slow saving of office files to network share

Hello,

we are having an issue that saving an office document to our network share takes about 20s (even if the file is tiny). This does not happen when copying the file to the drive directly (outside of office) or when saving other file types. Also when deactivating 'scan on write' or excluding external paths from being scanned the issue goes away, but both solutions are obviously not ideal.

It's a pure windows environment with clients being windows 7 and windows 10 and the file server is a windows 2012r2 machine. The paths are mapped network drives and everything is connected via gbit cable.

Is there a workaround or fix I could apply?

Thank you for your help!
