Cybereason Ransomfree

Hi

We've been using Sophos Endpoint Protection for many years now and while we have found it protects our systems, I am looking at other products to provide protection against specialist malware - in particular zero-day ransomware. I am familiar with Intercept X but our budget won't stretch to this at the moment and until it does I need to make sure that our client PC's in our Windows domain are protected.

One of the products I have been looking at is Cybereason's Ransomfree https://ransomfree.cybereason.com/

I have seen some reports that it impacts system performance (but I don't know any specifics - e.g. was it installed on an under-spec'd machine or an old machine... etc). The most important thing from my point of view is whether there are any known compatibility issues with the Sophos software we have installed.

Does anyone have any experience with this, please?

Thanks!

  • Hi, Haridoss, thanks for responding to my query.

I've been through the FAQ's on the site and have seen that they state it can run alongside existing anti-malware software. I was just crossing the t's and dotting the i's before installing it on our works systems and was hoping someone might have used it with Sophos AV/Firewall. I am presently using it on my home system with Emsisoft Internet Security, but that's a high-end custom built gaming machine so while it has not affected system performance and I can see its resource usage appears to be low, I don't know how it will run here.

I will install it on my own work PC's (a Dell Precision and a Dell Optiplex), and see how it fares before installing it on other systems.

    Thanks :)

  • Hi Blood,

Thank you for the update. Sure you can try that and if in case you have any issues, you could opt for Intercept X.
