does sophos have conflicts?

Does Sophos antivirus have any conflict with Rapid Boot or VIP access, which are programs that are factory installed on thinkpad computers (they come with the computer when you purchase it)?

Also, does Sophos antivirus have any conflicts with other programs, including Norton products, or Spybot search and destroy or Windows Defender?

Thanks.

  • Hi iop

Sophos doesnt conflict with any prorams but there are programs that it would not be advisable to have running on the same machine.

Any other anti-virus program. Both programs would pick up the identity files/definition files as threats and a mini war would errupt on the machine. All resources would go the programs trying to stop the 'threats' (IE the other av product) from executing. If you have to have another AV. you would have to consider disabling one and running scheduled scans and excluding directories which voids the use of both then in my personal opinion.

Sophos does communicate on ports 8192, 8193 and 8194 - which to my nowledge only one other program sometimes makes use of these ports which is Bloomberg.

Search for Bloomberg and Sophos provides instructions on to make them compatible together.

Perhaps confirm if Rapid Boot or VIP access uses these ports. Also confirm if Sophos has detected them as Suspicious. depending on the configurations that you have put in place, Sophos may stop the programs.

This would be the best place to start. :)
