Installing on windows server 2008

I had an issue with server being slow to load and tried uninstalling the av to check if it was causing the issue (which it was)

Now I am trying to install it back and its telling me installation failed.

Any ideas?

  • Hi dijsil,

We'll need to look into the installation log to see why this failed.  Could you provide us with a copy of the SophosCloudInstaller log located in C:\ProgramData\Sophos\CloudInstaller\Log\ for us to analyze?

  • Please find below the log file:

  • Hi dijsil,

Try redownloading your installer, however instead of clicking the link to download the Server installer, right click it and select copy.  Modify the URL to SophosInstall.exe rather than SophosSetup.exe and try that installer.

    Example:
    api-cloudstation-eu-central-1.prod.hydra.sophos.com/.../SophosSetup.exe
    api-cloudstation-eu-central-1.prod.hydra.sophos.com/.../SophosInstall.exe

  • Hi

For the error "ERROR : FileSystemFinder failure: 87" we usually see this in Windows Server 2008. An alternate installer (from the instructions below) should help install Sophos.

    1. Login to Sophos Central, choose Protect Devices
    2. Right-Click on the Download Windows Server Installer link under the heading of Server Protection, choose Copy link address
    3. Open then paste the link in a new tab, modify the link changing the SophosSetup.exe to SophosInstall.exe press enter a different version of the installer should be downloaded.
    4. It should be about 25 MB in size, right-click then choose to Run As Administrator for the 2008 devices.
  • thanks managed to get it working with the instructions you gave me thanks.

  • Hi

Great that our suggestion worked for you! Thanks!

  • After installing Sophos again when rebooting server is taking long on applying computer settings.

is there a fix for this?

  • Hi

This is a known issue with Windows 2008 server but as it is going to be out of support soon and will only be available in extended support in the near future.

I'll PM you the solution, please let us know if that works or not for you.
