 We don't have such different best practices for development and other staff members. Please find out Endpoint Security and Control: Best practices article index which has all the best practices for the Endpoint Security and control. 
 If your development is having an issue with performance, you need to make sure that you have applied all the vendor-specific exclusions for the application which your developers are using most of the time.
