Is sophos intercept x and exploit protection in the enterprise console the same thing?

Hi,

We have recently upgraded our licence to include the exploit protection, I was under the impression from sales that this was the same as the intercept x product (and we could convert to that if we move to sophos cloud). Would someone be able to confirm that we are getting the same protection on the desktops from exploit protection as intercept x?

Is it just sophos endpoint + hitman alert? or is there more too it?

Any details of the ransomeware protection would be good as well, ive seen some demos on the web showing the ransomeware run (ransom screen appears etc, but files stay intact), but ive seen some older videos of hitman pro failing to pick up ransomware.

Thanks

  • Hello TheRealDJ,

exploit protection [...] the same as the intercept x
no. Definitely not. EXP is just HitmanPro.Alert and Clean, requires SESC and SEC. Intercept X is cloud-based, AFAIK it's optionally stand-alone, i.e. it doesn't require Central Endpoint and offers in addition Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and with 2.0 Deep (Machine) Learning. Note that HitmanPro.Alert can roughly be divided in two parts: Ransomware Protection (CryptoGuard) and Exploit Prevention/Mitigation. Only the former is active on servers but can detect and mitigate attacks by remote ransomware (did some simple tests and it seems to work like advertised).
