Installation Failed - Endpoint will not install on machine despite clients permissions to setup.exe

I am attempting to push out an installation of Endpoint and its components from the Enterprise Console but the machine is reporting back the error of installation failed. [0x8007002]

I have followed the recommended practices by making sure the necessary services are running and that the client has access to the SophosUpdate folder and the setup.exe file within.

He did have the software installed previously and has removed the software himself (he is another Administrator) but we are unable to get it reinstalled and it is also noted that whilst all the apps have been removed the Sophos Update service is still in place.

side note: The reason he removed the software was that it was not longer reporting back to the Enterprise Console

Any help would be extremely help.

Tara

  • Hi

Below are the common causes of these deployment errors. Can you check is any of these could be causing it?

    • The endpoint computer is switched off or not currently joined to the network.
    • The operating system of the remote computer is not supported.
    • The operating system of the remote computer is Windows 8+ in a workgroup environment.
    • There is a firewall blocking the installation process.
    • A required endpoint service (Task Scheduler, Remote Registry, Windows Installer) is not started or able to start.
    • The central share cannot be accessed.
    • There is a mismatch in DNS where a new DHCP address is registered against the old name and the forward zone cannot update the record.
    • The endpoint is currently managed by Sophos Central.

If you find that any of these above reasons to be the reason, please refer Deployment errors when protecting endpoint computers for more details.
