Upgrading SEC 5.2.1.197 to 5.2.1 R2 -- Error 1603

Hello!

I am receiving the following errors when trying to upgrade our SEC.  It seems to fail when installing the sum.msi as seen by the bootstrapper log:

Any information would helpful as I couldn't seem to find any other threads pertaining to this. Thanks!

    And: -2147287035 = 80030005

    If that's access denied, then does the file:

    D:\Program Files\Sophos\Enterprise Console\SUMInstaller\Sum.msi

    exist and is there a reason why it can't be accessed?

    Maybe a Process Monitor during the "modify" would help prove this?

  • That worked like a charm, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I had to modify the folder permissions a bit to allow Sophos to get to it. Thanks!

    I'm getting the same error messages when I'm attempting to install. Mind sharing what modification you made to the folder permission? Did you grant permission to user running the installation or a user that Sophos has to use (the database user perhaps)

  • Managed to solve it. On top of modifiying the folder & file permission, also had to remove the existing SUMInstaller folder.

    Installation worked perfectly after that.
