Time-of-Click Protection and External URL Name

Hi,

We have configured time of click protection for URL's in Sophos Email appliance.

My question is, what would be the best practice to configure FQDN which should be accessible from internet, should be default FQDN or Custom One? Someone please help.

Currently configured a custom FQDN which works only from intranet (not published in Public DNS Server). The requirement is to configure a FQDN which should work from internet.

Regards

Anu

  • Hi

This is a decision to be made by Admin. However, there are some things to consider:

    • Changing FQDN and port will render the previously rewritten URLs non-redirectable. When changing the FQDN and port the administrator will be warned.
    • Make sure the FQDN is resolvable by internal and external DNS (for users to open an email while working outside the company network)
    • Make sure the port is accessible externally and internally (for the same reason mentioned above)
    • When using a custom port it is recommended to the user a port higher than 1023
    • This configuration is independent for every appliance - it will not sync in a cluster.

    Regards
