Mail Routing for Mail Server in HA Mode

Hi!

Got stuck with Configuration > Routing > Mail Domain

There are 2 exchange server in HA mode, I can only add one mail domain pointing the primary mail server.

detail:

Routing

  Mail Deliver Server:  Primary        1.2.3.1:25 A

                                Secondary    1.2.3.2:25 A

  Mail Domains :   mydomain.com  sub=YES  1.2.3.1:25

                           mydomain.com sub=YES   1.2.3.2:25    ========> Error: Duplicate found: Domain

  Internal Mail Host:  mail1.mydomain.com

                               mail2.mydomain.com

If the primary server goes down, it means i have to manually configure Mail Domain IP in SEA to allow second server to send mail?

Thanks!

  • No , create a host group and set it to via mx record

    Add both your exchange dns/ip info

    Then apply that host group to the incoming domain

    This will force the appliance to rr dns should one server go down the message would be deferred then resent to the next server in line..

    If you wanted a 90/10 rule just weight the a records to say 20 and 10 .. this will send all mail to the first server and only try the second if the first is busy
