Replacing SEA Secure Email with ZIX Encryption

Currently we use SEA which is virtual and clustered for both spam filtering and outbound encryption (the password protected PDF).

We want to turn off all the SEA encryption policies and just use SEA as a spam filter.

ZIX will handle all of the outbound DLP (contain filtering/monitoring).

Has anyone every done anything like this?

Will SEA even work with ZIX?

Or has anyone every setup SEA and ZIX to work together?

    In regards to the SEA. you really don't need to do anything with it, but it would depend on your network topology.

     

    one way to do it would be ..

    create a send connector in exchange to send all mail to be encrypted to it, and have the zix deliver it out to the internet.

    then you could make a rule in the sea to look for the XHEADER of what ever the zix is appending to email and re-direct the message back to the zix.

     

     

    you could also just use the sea for incoming mail and change the outbound flow from exchange.  the sea only processes mail that is specifically directed to it.

     

    so you can make any number of appliances or 3rd party appliances work in any mail flow.
