SEA migration to cloud using exchange and shared namespace.

Hi,

I am currently using a Sophos SEA to filter mail to our Exchange 2007 server.

Our ultimate goal is to migrate (hopefully seamlessly) to O365 in Microsoft cloud using Sophos cloud for spam filtering.

I plan to setup a shared namespace with the new mailboxes in the new O365 service - then copy each users data over, change the client settings & disable the mailbox in E2007.

By disabling the mailbox the shared namespace should forward their mail to the O365 server. This gives me a migration process for each user, when all are complete I will change the mx record to point directly to (Sophos Cloud+O365).

Will the SEA encounter any issues as during this process users will technically not exist (NDR) on the E2007 server? Is there an easier way to maintain continuity whilst migrating many users?

Other key issue is we are unable to migrate everyone quickly due to a relatively slow internet connection. The upload of data may take a couple of weeks!

Any help or suggestions gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony
