SophosUIServer keeps crashing

For the past few days on a MAC, the SophosUIServer has been crashing. I updated it, I uninstalled it and it seems that I can't seem to get this issue to go away. 

On OS X, I get SophosUIServer has crashed, send report to Apple or ignore.

When I looked at the crash trace, I saw that launchd is having issues with the UIServer. 

So I uninstalled the whole thing and reinstalled it. 

 

Now I have Sophos Home edtion 9.7.7, Threat detection engine 3.74 and threat data 5.55, It seems to me this is the latest Sophos. 

Is anyone else having this issue? What's the implication? Is Sophos not working on this machine?

    Even worse:

    1) On-Access Scanning disables itself frequently for unknown reasons. Needs to be re-enabled manually after a system start.

    2) Scheduling scans does not start a scan  but just updates scheduler to the next programmed date. I have tried a new schedule profile without success.

    Sophos AV (update: 15 January 2019 5:05 GMT+1, the date after which the problems started)
