SEC 5.4 install

ok so gone to install SEC 5.4 and its telling me that i have encryption installed ???

now i thought ok maybe its the tamper protection the wasnt switched on but i reset it anyway. any ideas because im out. we dont use drive or any form of encryption on any of out computers.

I got it to work [:D]

I stopped the Sophos encryption service. Started the windows installer service.

Ran msiexec /i Server64.msi REMOVE=Encryption in elevated command prompt

Seems to have uninstalled.

I got it to work [:D]

I stopped the Sophos encryption service. Started the windows installer service.

Ran msiexec /i Server64.msi REMOVE=Encryption in elevated command prompt

Seems to have uninstalled.

Morning all

well after a weekend away from it i came to the same thought as Jamie just turn off the dam service and hay presto it ran.

so now im going to try the update and see where i get to.

well that lasted long. 5.4 wont install failing on the database msi with error code 1603 in the bootstrapper.

Hello Kurt,

the actual cause is in the product specific log (Sophos_Database64msi...).
BTW: How did you get it to install on D:?

when i ran the original install i just told the installer to install in a folder i had setup on the D: drive and its still there now.

Ok so here is tho log from the server if iv read it right its tilling me that my OS is wrong. but iv check this and 2008R2 is still support so it shouldn't fail.

Hello Kurt,

the failing LaunchCondition is
(VersionNT64=600 AND ServicePackLevel>=2 AND MsiNTProductType>1) OR
(VersionNT64=601 AND ServicePackLevel>=1 AND MsiNTProductType>=1) OR
(VersionNT64>601 AND MsiNTProductType>=1)

VersionNT64 is 601 for 2008R2, logic requires ServicePackLevel>=1, from your logs I get it that you don't have the SP installed. Thus the LaunchCondition fails.

Where is this documented? Now, you have to read the fine print (actually the last Note:) in System Requirements for Enterprise Console: If no service pack is specified, then the latest SP is implied.

well that is a paint in the ass. on the install it only come up as a recommend not a warning or a fail think sophos need to change this. looks like i wont be installing it after all not for a while anyway.

please contact Support - and it has to be classified Failure in the prerequisite checks as the LaunchCondition is false (for all packages except SUM.msi) and the install aborted.

well after support taking for ever to help me i contacted our accounts software providers and asked them what problems i would get if i updated to SP1.

turns out nun so updated to SP1 and ran 5.4 again now all installed and working fine.

I am having the same issue. But I am already running Windows 2008 SP1 and the 5.4 console is still telling me I have Encryption installed even though I don't.

Any other ideas?

I had the same problem also on Server 2008. This is how I got it to work:

I stopped the Sophos encryption service. Started the windows installer service.

Ran msiexec /i Server64.msi REMOVE=Encryption in elevated command prompt
