  • Web control policy-Enable web control-Website Exceptions

    I typed domains: yahoo.com, login.live.com - Sophos had block them, but mail.google.com or accounts.google.com didn't.

  • Hello Nikola,

as far as I can see these names are blocked like the others. Did you try to access them directly and they weren't blocked or does GMail seem to be accessible? Please note that there are other names in use as well (like gmail.google.com or plus.google.com).

  • This is the list of Websites I want to block. Everything is blocked except *.google.com sites.

This list was functional (insclude gmail) on Sophos enterprise console 5.2.2, but now we have 5.3.1.

  • Hello Nikola,

sounds strange. When did you notice the issue - immediately after upgrading to SEC 5.3.1 (did you migrate)? Did you try to create a new policy or modify/save/reassign this one?
If you view the policy on an endpoint (%ProgramData%\Sophos\Remote Management System\3\Agent\AdapterStorage\SWC\SWCPolicy - no extension) it should contains lines like
    <BlockedSite>mail.google.com</BlockedSite>
(note the URL-encoding of < and >). Any visible anomalies?

  • Immediately after migreation and upgrading. I created a new policy....that example I sent you is the new policy on 5.3.1

    I can't see SWCPolicy.

We can block every single site, but Gmail....I can't see why we have a problem with this...

  • Hello Nikola,

    I can't see SWCPolicy
also strange. Let's start here. In this PC's local GUI Configure->Web Control ... is the Enable web control box ticked? In the console, Endpoints view, tab Web Control, is Active show in the Status column and Same for Policy? Verify that the "others" are indeed blocked. Then add sophostest.com in the Web Control policy. Policy should change to Awaiting ... and eventually back to Same. Verify that sophostest.com is blocked. If all this works as expected WC should also block the GMail domains.
Can't say what the missing SWC adapter folder signifies, AFAIK it should be present if Web Control is installed on the endpoint.

  • This is funny....I just needed to delete cash files from browser, and policy works. Gmail is blocked.

    Thank you for your time.
