  • ok thats good, I wasn't worried:-)

The way it works is we update what we call our 'Warehouses' this is where you SUM gets it's updates. Once the warehouse has the files then the next time SUM checks for updates (by default once an hour) it will download them, these files need processing/converting and moving to the download location (CID). Once there any endpoint/server that is set to update from that location (by default every 10 mins) will pull down the new files and update.

So how long it all takes can depend on your policies, if machines are online even your internet speed.

I assume the other consoles will be part way through this process as well.

  • Same here just update to 5.7.533 :)

  • So when you right-click on a SUM and do an "Update Now", does it check for software and IDE updates?

  • Yes.

Although if you are using the Fixed Extended subscriptions then unless the software versions in that had changed (they haven't) then you would only get the threat updates (IDEs).

For reference the Microsoft patch is compatible with all Sophos supported versions including the Fixed Extended ones, the only reason we have chosen not to upgrade those subscriptions is to leave customers the option of not getting the registry key pushed to them, in case they are worried about 3rd party software on the machine that is incompatible.

  • Thank you, Peter.

After your 12:53 update, I was concerned that my SUMs had shown as updated, but I forgot that the software updates were hourly.

My next job is to move to the next Fixed Extended subscription in a 'controlled fashion'.
