Adding Endpoint eXpliot prevention license to existing Endpoint Advanced license

We renewed existing Sophos Endpoint Advanced and added Endpoint eXploit Prevention. Is there any procedure to get the possibility to instal exploit prevention feature, because right now the console is throwing error that eXploit prevention is not licensed. What we have already done:

  • eXploit prevention username and pwd from license schedule was added to Sophos ID account where existing Endpoint advanced license credential was added before
  • Sophos Update manager was configured with new eXploit prevention license username & pwd, but this option showed error, that download is not possible - it looks like eXploit prevention username and pwd should not be used for SUM update
  • subscription is set to Preview to get latest 10.7.x version, but there is no sign under details of eXpolit prevention (no Hitmanpro part)

  • Your not alone, I have exactly the same issue.

  • Hello MihaKralj and Ian Asquith,

I'm just another customer and I too am wondering how it's supposed to work.
From past experience with new features I'd expect that the additional components "magically" appear as shown under Additional Information in 126016 - but as you say this isn't the case. IIRC once during a Beta you had to enter both sets (Beta and regular) of credentials in order to download "everything" (guess it was the location - Sophos in both cases - with Beta credentials first, didn't work the other way round).
The Sophos ID (with the associated product credentials) is only used for accessing the Downloads section (are there any new SA downloads?), it has no effect on the SUM configuration at all.
I also wonder about the Product key mentioned for Sophos Clean in 126016. Why would it be needed if you already have a license (and where is it on the schedule) or how would I download Clean to obtain an evaluation license as suggested in the article.

  • It looks like there was a problem with credentials. They were different for Endpoint eXploit Prevention and Endpoint Protection. They must be the same on your Sophos licence.

  • Thanks for that,

I have just forwarded this to Sophos support as I have raised a ticket with them...hopefully they can amend my original Endpoint account detail etc. to include the new Licence for eXploit, instead of having this new one.

  • Hopefully your issues are resolved.

I just post this in case other members stumble over this thread. It seems that actually the problem is/was on the backend. Please see SEC: new Exploit Prevention licenses are not activating ....

  • Hi Christian

We got the following reply from Sophos support last night...and yes it was thier own messup

    Hello Ian,

Thank you for your email. We have associated your Endpoint Protection Advance and eXploit Prevention licenses into all your credential usernames (xxxx).

After an hour or maximum of 2 hrs the change should sync with our back-end and you should be able to use any of them to your Sophos Enterprise Console (SEC).

I have enabled 'preview' as the download option, as its the only one that has the client 10.7 in it. The eXploit policy update has installed on about 60% of my hardware...the rest have a bunch of errors and havent taken it. I will be looking at them later on when I get a chance.

    Thanks

    Ian
