Sophos firewall and Miracast support

Hi, we have encountered a problem with miracast connections and Sophos Firewall on our Win10 Laptops.

It seems that the miracast trafic is getting blocked by the Firewall.

Is there any option to enable miracast on the firewall?

Thx!

  • Hello LaurentMander,

basically there are no specific how to enable this or that instructions or yet settings. It seems that the miracast traffic is getting blocked - normally traffic (or connection attempts) should be logged (regardless of the protocol), whether allowed or blocked. Does it work if you set the firewall to Allow all traffic?

  • Hey Christian, yes with the "Allow all traffic" it is working, but that's not the best solution ;D

It's not really showing any blocked traffic and  we have (for the moment) the network traffic which has no matching rule on "Allow by default",

so maybe it's an other setting that's blocking? (ICMP/LAN/GlobalRules)

  • Hello LaurentMander,

Allow by default applies when no rule matches, thus if Allow all traffic makes a difference this suggests that there is a blocking rule - and this action should be in the log. What's not really [...] any blocked traffic? Miracast is a transport layer peer-to-peer protocol thus it likely shows as some obscure communication (attempt).
