Sophos Device Control Service will not start on an endpoint.

I rweceived an e-mail noticication the the Device Control Service had stopped on an end user's PC. I had him restatrt the PC but no lick with the service. In the application event viewer I found this error message: "The requested component 'SWIManager' is in a failure state. The component will not be returned." this message is entered in the Event Viewer any time I try to start the service. Any idea how to fix it. The PC is running Windows 7 Pro X64 SP1.

Is the "Sophos Anti-Virus" (SAVService) present and running?

Yes. Every service that should be running is running except for the Sophos Device Control Service. I am unable to manually start it.

OK, I know that it is dependent on the SAV Service.

It might be worth following:

https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/113594

and run Process Monitor (technet.microsoft.com/.../processmonitor.aspx) when attempting to start the service. I'd be happy to take a look at a PML if it's not obvious.
