Completely unable to uninstall endpoint

I somehow installed the business version of sophos on my mac.  It is a free trial and for personal use, and I tried to uninstall it by dragging the program to the trash but it is still on my computer.

The removal tool is missing (due to me uninstalling it wrong) and nothing I do seems to be able to solve the problem.  I have tried reinstalling, which fails.  I have tried downloading the removal tool and running it, which fails.

I spoke with Sophos tech support and since it is Cloud Endpoint 9.4.3, they are unable to do anything because they say it is managed by a Sophos Central administrator.  However, there is NO administrator.  I set this up myself, there was no administrator involved and I never created a Sophos Central account, so how I installed the business version of the software I do not know.

Any ideas?  I would love some assistance if anyone has ever run into this before.

Thank you,

Jeremy

  • So do you have the Application under /Applications?

Try checking the following locations for left over files:

    • /Library
    • /Library/Application Support
    • /Library/Preferences
    • /Library/LaunchAgents
    • /Library/LaunchDaemons
    • /Library/PreferencePanes
    • /Library/StartupItems

Careful to remove only files associated with sophos.
