  • Hello Terry Synyshyn,

seemingly a simple question - but then, there are no details: How exactly is your install set up (there's more than one method) and consequently what do you configure? How often do you intend to update the image? Do your VMs preserve part of their state or do they boot from just the image? Are you considering fixed packages?

As a sketchy guide: If your image contains only AutoUpdate you can leave it alone for some time. In the past the recommendation was to assure that AU is not older than three months. Naturally if you are using fixed packages AU will remain stable for the lifetime of the fixed version. If your image contains a full installation it should naturally be updated when there are significant changes (e.g. for SAV in order of importance most to least: SAV version, VE version, Detection Data) for one of the components. It's not absolutely necessary though as otherwise the machines will perform a major update after start (which OTOH makes the full installation on the image void - but while not guaranteed even a very old installation can perform a major update without problems).
