Endopoint getting error e03d0056, coincides with BSOD's

"Code e03d0056; The on-access driver failed to determine the name for the file."

System BSOD coincides with this error message on the server console. Previously have had issues with Sophos scans, uninstall re-installs don't resolve the issue, even if we go into the registry to remove what we can find. System is the Dell Precision T1700 with an SSD boot drive. User uses VMWare Workstation extensively to work on virtual machines.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi,

I'm not sure how much we can do here with a BSOD.

    What is the bugcheck code?

Do you have at least a mini-dump?  Anything in C:\windows\minidump\?  If so, you could upload it to: http://www.osronline.com/page.cfm?name=Analyze and paste/make available the output here.  it might give some clue at least to the nature of the bugcheck.

Beyond that, you will probably need to capture a full memory dump or 2; create a support ticket and upload Support the dumps.  If Sophos is involved in the crash, there is a good chance it will require the private symbols to understand.

    Regards,

    Jak
