Sophos Protection Updating Failed

I have Sophos Home Protection 10.6 that was installed about three years ago.  Recently the shield showed up on my PC with a red x over it and keeps trying to download the updated version but fails every time it tries.  It shows that the last time my software was updated was 4/26/2016.  How do I get this software to update?  If it is not updated, then does that mean my computer is not protected?

    Hello DebbieLorange,

    this is a little bit confusing - three years ago there was neither a version 10.6 nor a Sophos Home Protection (there's now a free Sophos Home but while protection is mentioned in its description it's not called Sophos Home Protection).
    The questions are: Which product is it actually (if you open the GUI there's a View product information link on the left) are where from is it trying to update (both Configure updating and View updating log should show this information)?
