Forgotten tamper password

I have Sophos Endpoint Software from a friend who works for Sophos via the old scheme of allowing employees to issue up to five copies to friends and families.  It is therefore a completely standalone installation.  I am gradually upgrading my machines to Windows 10 and on the first laptop (W7) I was in a loop after the upgrade, with the OS saying there was no AV etc running, but Sophos was apparently running, but I could not start the management console to control it, nor could I uninstall it.  So reverted to W7 uninstalled Sophos and all was OK on the subsequent upgrade.  Now trying to convert another laptop and uninstalling Sophos first, but this one has tamper protection enabled and in spite of my best efforts, I have forgotten the password.  Tamper protection is doing exactly what it should be doing and preventing any attempts at backdoor removal.  Short of an OS install from scratch is there anyway round the forgotten password?  I'm running version 10.3. Other questions in the forum don't seem to address the stand alone situation.

Many thanks.
