While installing the Sophos Outlook AddIn on a brand new laptop I get the message: Error 1001. Outlook Not Installed. Of course is Outlook installed on the system: Windows 10- 64bit, Office 2016 32 bit.
After asking Sophos Support what to do I got this answer:
Unfortunately the "Office 2016 32bit " is not supported.
Please see the below supported platforms and versions:
Version 1.3 of the Outlook Add-in supports these versions of Windows:
- 32-bit versions of Windows XP and 7
- 64-bit versions of all Windows platforms
And these versions of Outlook:
- 32-bit versions of Outlook 2007 SP1+ and Outlook 2010
- 64-bit versions of all Outlook platforms, including Outlook 2013
I think this is not correct. The download page of the Sophos Outlook AddIn says:
Microsoft Office 2007 (32-bit)/2010/2013/2016 (32/64-bit), Windows XP x86, Windows 7 x86/x64, Windows 8 x86/x64, Windows 10 x86/x64, office 365, office click to run
So Office 2016 32bit is supported, even if it wasn’t supported it’s Sophos job to make work.
Office 2016 not is list Programs and features
But I think that’s not the problem. I think that the message Error 1001. Outlook Not installed is the result of the fact that I have a Lenovo Thinkpad E580 with a pre-installed Office 2016 that is not listed in the Windows Programs and features list. I suppose that the Sophos Addin installer check the presence of Office in that list.
What can I do to install the Sophos Outlook AddIn on a laptop with pre-installed Office 2016 32-bit and Windows 10?
