The Web Filtering feature in Endpoint Security and Control uses a Layered Service Provider (LSP) to integrate with networking applications such as Internet Browsers.
Occasionally LSPs used in other, non-Sophos software, may affect the performance of such applications and cause unpredictable behavior due to a conflict. This article is intended to help identify if such a conflict is occurring.
The article explains how to identify the exact issue; confirm if the Sophos LSP is involved; check if the problem is a known incompatibility and if not (or required), provide the necessary logs for Sophos Technical Support to troubleshoot further for you.
Possible LSP related issues are reflected in any of the following behaviors in your internet or network applications:
Check whether the application is still showing the same behavior:
We've published a list of the LSPs that we know about, and have reported which ones we think are okay and which ones are not. Please check these lists before proceeding:
Possible interactions between third-party products and the Web Protection feature in Endpoint Security and Control 9.5.
Possible interactions between third-party products and the Web Protection feature in Endpoint Protection 10
Note: For more information on DebugView see article 119577.
As Web Filtering is a component in your security suite, we recommend that whenever possible this feature should be enabled. 3rd party software that is involved in the incompatibility should be disabled or removed.
