"Wanna" ransomware outbreak. Please see this Sophos article sophos.com/kb/126733 for advice on how to protect your organization. Immediate action recommended.
Issue When installing a remote Update Manager from the Windows Installer (MSI), the installation fails with the following error message:
Error 25007. The Windows API call ControlService failed. The error returned was: 14001.
Known to apply to the following Sophos products and versions Sophos Endpoint Security and Control remote Update Manager
This issue may be caused by using the MSI rather than setup.exe. This is because the setup.exe installation file contains some pre-requisite files for installation which are not accessible via the MSI. These include the Windows Installer 3.1 and Visual C++ 2005 SP1 runtime files.
A wizard guides you through the installation. It will allow you to install the pre-requisite files along with the Update Manager on the computer that will host the remote Update Manager.
