"Wanna" ransomware outbreak. Please see this Sophos article sophos.com/kb/126733 for advice on how to protect your organization. Immediate action recommended.
While DFS (Distributed File System) can be used to distribute updates, Sophos only supports the DFS Namespaces system. This system allows you to configure a standard update policy in Enterprise Console with a fixed address. However the destination the name resolves to can change depending on the location within the network. Sophos do not offer any kind of configuration assistance of this set-up.
DFS Replication is not supported because there is no way to replicate a distribution folder with DFS in the same order that Sophos Update Manager does. It is important that certain files are written in a specific order when an update occurs and this is something you cannot guarantee in DFS Replication.
Known to apply to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s) Sophos Update ManagerEnterprise Console.
DFS Replication and Namespaces are defined below. For more information consult up to date Microsoft documentation on DFS technology.
