PureMessage for Windows/Exchange, version 2.6.1, is not supported on Exchange 2007. In order to protect your Exchange 2007 servers from inbound viruses, spam and content threats, you must install PureMessage on an alternative Windows computer.
Sophos recommends that you install PureMessage on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server, configured as described below. Details of other versions of Windows which support PureMessage are available in the PureMessage startup guide.
Sophos expects to release a version of PureMessage later this year, which is supported on Exchange 2007. Existing customers will be able to upgrade to the new version for no additional cost.
These components are required on the computer on which you are going to install PureMessage. If they are not already installed, they can be installed using the 'Add/Remove Windows Components' wizard in 'Add/Remove Programs' in 'Windows Control Panel'. For more information on these services and how to install them, refer to your Windows documentation.
On the computer on which you are going to install PureMessage, open the 'Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager' window, and in the left hand pane, under 'Virtual SMTP Server'|'Domains', add a 'Remote Domain' to forward email to your Exchange server.
Refer to the Microsoft knowledgebase article How To Configure a Remote Domain for an Internet Information Services SMTP Mail Relay Server in Windows Server 2003 for information on how to do this.
Configure the forwarding of incoming SMTP traffic, to the virtual SMTP server on this Windows computer. Consult your Windows or other documentation for details of how to do this.
Follow the instructions in the PureMessage startup guide. Both 'Administrative Console' and 'PureMessage Service' components need to be selected
