Customers may encounter an issue with Sophos Enterprise Console managed Security VMs (SVMs) where an error is displayed against the SVM in the Enterprise Console and the SVM fails to upgrade from 1.2.0 to a newer version.
Customers will see the below error listed next to the SVM in the Enterprise Console:
and the following error in the Computer Details for the SVM:
This issue is encountered when the "Primary" update source for the SVM is not working correctly and therefore the SVM does not have the correct configuration files to facilitate a graceful upgrade to a newer version.

Alternatively to force a successful update of the SVM you can follow the below steps to force the SVM to update directly from Sophos.
Please note: Although this method will resolve the updating issue in the short term you may encounter errors or warning on the SVM or within the Enterprise Console as the updating will not be using the Update Manager.
