This article answers the frequently asked questions on smart banners. The following sections are covered:

The Smart Banner will not include the Allow/Block link when an email is sent to a Distribution List or Public Folder.
In rare circumstances, if indexing fails during the banner generation process, the banner will not include any links. This is to avoid any corner cases during problems with the indexing process.
DNS checks include DKIM, SPF or DMARC, see below for the 3 possible scenarios:
A. Trusted, Green banner = If the sender is in the allow list AND one of the DNS checks successfully pass
B. Unknown, Yellow banner (including allow/block links) = If the sender is not in the allow list and one of the DNS checks successfully pass
C. Untrusted, Amber banner (including allow/block links) = If both A and B are false
The smart banner will only be added to emails which contain HTML content. If an email is only sent in plain text, the banner cannot be applied.
For example, if the email ONLY contains:
Content-Type: text/plain; there will be no banner added to the email.
If an email contains BOTH:
Content-Type: text/plain and Content-Type: text/html; the smart banner will be added to both plain-text and html portions.
Yes, smart banners are added for both Distribution Lists and Public Folders. The allow/block links will not be added to these emails.
