As a security best practice, Sophos recommends that user data be wiped from any XG hardware firewall that will be transfered from one user to another. There are several methods to do this, and some risk or cost involved in each. The following methods are available for XG hardware appliances. The same may apply to software installs running on SSD drives, but any systems running on magnetic drives may use a free tool (https://dban.org/) to securely wipe all user data from a system. For many users, the first option will be sufficient, but this article is provided to make the risks clear, and provide alternatives, should those risks be to high for some users.
