Central Web Gateway will be discontinued after 30 June 2020.
To avoid any risk of problems, we recommend that you uninstall the Web Gateway before 30 June 2020 by following the steps indicated in KBA 122932 or KBA 122682. However, if that is not possible we do not expect there to be any significant disruption to end-user browsing.
The agent will be unable to contact the cloud-based filtering services. We recommend removing the agent before 30 June 2020 by following the steps in KBA 123348 for a Chromebook device, and KBA 122927 for an iPhone device.

At this time, Sophos suggests two different options to replace the functionality of Central Web Gateway. As we get closer to the end-of-life date, and as other options become available, we will update this article with relevant information.
Endpoint Web Control is an integrated part of Sophos’s Endpoint security platform and will be our primary vehicle for providing roaming web filtering features. Although it is not fully feature-compatible with Central Web Gateway at this time, we plan to add more features to this platform to address modern web protection requirements.
Customers who already have a subscription to Sophos Endpoint Protection can enable Web Control simply by defining a policy in Central and applying it to the relevant users.
Note: If you do not define any Web Control preferences, the default settings will be used.
The policy is now applied to the specified users.
This option allows roaming endpoint devices to benefit from all the web protection features of XG Firewall. In addition, it allows for full reporting on all web traffic generated by those endpoints. You could use an XG Firewall on your corporate network, or run a cloud-hosted XG Firewall in Microsoft Azure. Here are two ways in which it can be deployed:
