Google Drive File Stream is not supported as an encryption target, so it is not possible to store encrypted files on such volumes. As of SafeGuard version 8.20 (or File Encryption Engine update build 24), the file filter does not attach itself to a "Google Drive File Stream" volume anymore.
However, as there is a local file cache, it needs to be ensured that this location does not get encrypted, otherwise these files might get corrupted during the encryption process (e.g. initial encryption or manually enforced using the encrypt according to policy option via context menu).

To avoid file corruptions, you should create an ignore rule for the Local cached files directory. You can find this location easily, by right clicking on the GoogleDrive Systray icon and selecting "Preferences".
In this case, based on the example above, you need to create an ignore rule in your File Encryption policy for the following path:
<Local Application Data>\Google\DriveFS
