This article advises that the Talpa module update process has been changed. Talpa will now update when a new Talpa Binary Pack is required.
In previous releases of Sophos anti-virus for Linux, the check for a new Talpa Binary Pack only occurs when a new Sophos anti-virus IDE update becomes available. This means that when a Linux kernel is updated and a reboot has occurred bringing up the new kernel, the existing instance of Talpa would be incompatible and the on-access scanning would be disabled. An updated Talpa Binary pack would not be downloaded until a Sophos anti-virus IDE update triggers an update event. At which point, Talpa is also checked and updated if necessary.
