This article advises that the Talpa module update process has been changed. Talpa will now update when an new Talpa Binary Pack is required
Applies to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s) Sophos Anti-Virus for LinuxSophos Linux Security 10.4.0Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux 9.15.0
Operating systems Linux (supported versions)
In previous releases of Sophos Anti Virus for Linux, the check for a new Talpa Birary Pack only occurred when a new SAV IDE update was available.
This meant that when a Linux kernel is updated and a reboot has occurred bringing up the new kernel, existing instance of Talpa would be incompatable and on-access scanning would be disabled. An updated Talpa Binary pack would not be downloaded until a SAV IDE update triggers an update event. At which point Talpa is also checked and updated if necessary.
With the release of Sophos Anti Virus for Linux 9.15.0 / 10.4.0 (Sophos Linux Security) a Talpa Update will be triggered when it is required.
This means that when a New Talpa Binary pack is required, after a kernel update, then a talpa update will be triggered on the next update connection, regardless on whether a SAV IDE update is needed.
