This article provides information about the HTTPS update feature in Sophos Central.
Applies to the following Sophos products and versions Sophos Central Managed Server Sophos Central Managed Endpoint
From October the 3rd 2017 on new Central evaluation accounts and new Central customers will use HTTPS for client updates.
From June 5th 2018 on all Sophos Central customers where the licenses have been created before October 3rd 2017 will get the option to turn on HTTPS updating.
Existing accounts which are not already using HTTPS updating will not automatically be moved to HTTPS but they can enable it in Central.
Customers who purchased the license after October 3rd 2017 will not see the HTTPS option in Central. After logon a notification is displayed in Central with the information that HTTPS update is available now.
To enable HTTPS to go to "Global Settings | HTTPS Updating" and enable the HTTPS Updating option.
Please make sure that the endpoints have access to the following domains on port 443:
Note: HTTPS updating is only available for Central managed endpoints and is not supported on legacy Windows platforms (XP/2003/2008 non-R2). These operating systems will continue to update over HTTP even after HTTPS updates have been enabled.
