As of Mac OS 10.12, the Apple's Gatekeeper system (that checks validity of applications downloaded from the web through web browsers), will now change the launch path of applications downloaded with other content. Due to how our installer is bundled with its configuration, Sophos installers (Home, Cloud and SEC-managed) are impacted by this.
All these versions are downloaded with a directory called Sophos Installer Components beside the main install package (in the .zip). Sophos installer requires this information or it cannot register properly. The installer expect the directory to be in the same location as the .app package. The following sections are covered:

This issue is resolved as of version 9.5.3
If the Installer cannot find the Sophos Installer Components directory, the installation will fail.

It is important to move both to a different directory, as otherwise Gatekeeper may cause further issues.
Note: As of 9.5.3, the Installer will search under the user's home directory for the correct location of the installer and continue using the correct location. If the installer cannot find the correct location then the Installer will fail with the same error as versions prior to 9.5.3.
