Dynamic DNS (Domain Name Service) is a method of keeping a static domain/host name linked to a dynamically changing IP Address. This allows your server to be easier to access from various locations on the Internet.
Powered by Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS), you can access your Device by the domain name, not the dynamic IP Address. DDNS will tie a domain name (for example, mydevice.com, or mycompany.mydevice.com) to your dynamic IP Address.
Sophos Firewall supports following Dynamic DNS providers:
Prerequisites: A Registered Account with any of the above mentioned DDNS providers is required.
The configuration instructions in this article assume that you have an existing registration with a DDNS provider. If not, please register and acquire an account with a provider.
Scenario: Integrate Sophos XG Firewall with a registered third-party DDNS service provider.
Applies to the following Sophos products and versions Sophos Firewall Applicable Version: 17.x.x onwards
You must be logged in to the Admin Console as an administrator with Read-Write permissions for the relevant feature(s).
You can integrate Sophos XG Firewall with a DDNS provider by following the steps below:
Register and acquire an account with any one of the DDNS service providers mentioned above. Write down the account's login information, as we will use it later on. If you already have one, then move on to Step 2.
Enter the name to identify the host that you want to use. It is the domain name that you registered with your DDNS service provider: for example, example.sophos.com.
Port 2 – 10.201.208.15
Select the External Interface. The IP Address of the selected interface will be bound to the specified host name.
NATed Public IP
Select the IPv4 Address source: The Port IP or NAT'd Public IP.
IP Edit Checking Interval
Enter the amount of time after which Sophos XG Firewall checks the IP Address of its External Interface. If the Address has changed, Sophos XG Firewall notifies the registered DDNS Service Provider.
Select the Service provider with whom you have registered your hostname.
Enter your DDNS account’s Username.
Enter your DDNS account’s Password.
The configuration above integrates your Sophos XG Firewall Device with a third party DDNS Service Provider.
