Traffic Shaping is a method to guarantee a bandwidth between individual applications or protocols. This allows you to allocate network resources to both mission-critical and normal data, based on the type of network traffic and the priority you assign to that traffic.
This document explains how to apply bandwidth restriction on an application or group of application on Sophos XG Firewall.

Go to System Services > Traffic Shaping and click Add to create the policy using the following parameters.
Note: To see the detailed description of each field please review the online help guide.
Click Save to create the Traffic Shaping (QoS) Policy.
Go to Applications > Traffic Shaping Defaults and click the Edit icon next to the desired Application category. Select the policy we created in step one to apply.
Click Save to apply the Traffic Shaping policy.
To create a rule, go to Firewall. Click the Edit icon on the firewall rule would like to apply this to. Now click the check box next to Apply Application-based Traffic Shaping Policy
Click Save to update the rule.
