Not product specific
The MySophos portal (referred to as MySophos) provides a secure area to be used by end-users of Sophos products to access product downloads and manage licenses of SF-OS devices (includes Firewall, Firewall Manager and iView V2 products).
Access is controlled by a Sophos ID login, which also provides secure access to a number of other areas including the Sophos Community, SophServ and other services and resources. MySophos easy to use but if you need guide you may refer to this article. The main areas in MySophos are:
Enter the product credentials from your license schedule for endpoint, mobile and server software to get access to Downloads.
This area of MySophos is designed as a one-stop shop to manage your Network Protection subscriptions.
If you don’t have a MySophos account, you need to create one. We have introduced Sophos ID which allows you to use a single login and password to access MySophos and other areas of the website. The benefits and some FAQs are explained in About Sophos ID and further information is available in Sophos ID - creating and using your account.
To create an account:
You can now log in to your account at https://www.sophos.com/mysophos. If you are using Network Protection, we recommend you go straight to the Network Protection->Contact Information section and complete your contact information.
If you have purchased endpoint, mobile, encryption and server products then this is the area is for you. Add the product credentials shown on your license schedule and then you will be able to access downloads for the software you have purchased.
This area of MySophos is designed as a one-stop shop to manage your Network Protection licensing. In many cases the functionality available on MySophos is also available directly from your device, so use whichever you find most convenient.
From here you can perform a whole range of tasks:
This is where you keep all your personal details up to date. Ensuring this area complete and up to date will simplify registration of new Network Protection devices.
A key concept in the Sophos Firewall family of products is that they each need to be registered in order to start using the functionality.
To register the device, click the Verify button and in the dialog that follows check that the information is correct, then click Confirm Registration. Registering a device creates the license for that device on the licensing system.
Once you have installed and registered your device it will automatically call home each day to get the latest license. However, if you need the change to be reflected on the device straight away, press the License Synchronization button on the device.
Registering a device can also result in additional actions being taken automatically by the licensing system:
This section shows you a list of your registered devices, and there are a number of actions you can perform:
View the list of registered devices
All devices that you have registered will be listed unless you have filtered or hidden any. Devices with subscriptions expiring within 30 days will have an orange indicator to the left of the serial number and those with expired subscriptions will have a red indicator.
You can page forwards and backwards through the list and also change the number of devices shown per page using the dropdown.
View the status of subscriptions, Activate a License Key, Activate an Evaluation
Find your device in the list and click on Subscribe in the Actions column. This will allow you to:
As with registration, if you modify the subscription status by activating a license key or an evaluation, then the new license will be synchronized automatically within 24 hours. If you want this to occur sooner then you will need to press the License Synchronization button on the device
Download replacement firmware
The easiest way to get replacement firmware is to get it directly on your device. However, if you want to manually download different firmware for your device, click on Download and select the firmware you want.
Label your device with a short name
You can select Edit on each device to give your device a short name or record brief information about the device to aid recognition of it if you have several. The serial number uniquely identifies the device but if you have several devices you will need a great memory to remember which device is used for what. For example, you can give the device a name such as Boston Firewall.
Hide devices you no longer use
You may have performed a 30-day trial which has now expired. Use the checkboxes in the Show? column to deselect those that you no longer wish to see in the list. Click on the Show/Hide button to switch between a view that shows hidden devices or hides them again. You can unhide a device at any time by checking its checkbox again.
Page through your list of devices
If you have lots of devices you can use the arrow buttons at the top right of the table to go forwards and backwards a page at a time or jump to the first or last page. In addition, you can choose the number of devices to be shown per page which can be 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Search for a device or filter the list of devices
The Search Options act as a filter on the list of devices. If you have few devices you will not need this but if you have many and want to quickly find the device you can enter information into the search box and click Search. In this way you can search on the Serial Number, Additional Info and Model columns. Simple pattern matching is used, so any device that contains what you type in in any of the three columns will be returned.
You can see the full list again by clicking Clear.
You can display more search features by clicking on Advanced Search. This allows you to search by Registration date, License expiry date, Product type (UTM, SFM, IVIEW). In addition, you can choose to include Hidden devices in your search and choose whether to display devices that have Evaluations running. As before, if you want to clear your search criteria click Clear.
If you already have an active Sophos Firewall, SFM, or iView instance and want to get the latest firmware update we recommend you do that from within device management. That way you can be sure you are getting the right firmware for the device. However, we recognize it can be convenient to get the latest firmware in advance of registration or before you get access to the device itself or through MySophos. The Firmware Updates section allows you to enter the serial number of your target device, or search by Product and Platform. Either way, clicking on the Show Available Downloads button will present a table of firmware downloads.
If you have purchased a Virtual or Software device and need to get the Software for your initial install, or if you simply want to get an installer for a Hardware device then you will find them in this section.
The installers are for new installations only. Using an installer will wipe out any existing software on the target environment including data and licensing. If you have an existing device and need to update the firmware on it you must use the firmware update and not use an installer.
If you are working with colleagues and want them to have access to your devices in their MySophos account you can enter their email address and click Add. They must already have a MySophos account or the request will fail. You can see who you have shared devices with and also see who has shared devices with you. Once devices have been shared the recipient will have exactly the same access to the device in MySophos as you do.
If you are working with colleagues and want to make them the registrant of a device you registered, you can use this feature to change who is recorded as the registrant. The recipient needs to have a valid Sophos ID and MySophos account.
When you select the Change Registrant feature, a list of devices that you can transfer to someone else are listed. Pick one, and then enter the email address of the intended recipient whom you want to make the new registrant.
When you proceed you will receive an email to confirm your request. The recipient will also receive an email inviting them to log into MySophos and use the Accept Registrant Change feature. Only after the recipient has accepted the change will they become the Registrant. At that point, the recipient will have access to it in MySophos, and you will no longer have access.
The recipient will have up to 3 days to accept the request. If they don’t you can try again, but until that point it will not appear in your list of transferable devices.
License Transfer is designed to provide customers with the ability to transfer their license from one serial number to another. It should only be used to cover exceptions when the license needs to be moved to a different serial number.
