After uninstalling you may want to remove the read-only Sophos keychain from MacOS X's Keychain Access application.

Applies to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s)
Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X
Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition

Operating systems
Mac OS X 10.10

What To Do

  1. Quit the Keychain program.  For example press Cmd + Q, or select 'File' | 'Quit' from the menu bar.  Ensure the program is not shown in the dock as running.

  2. Open Terminal from Spotlight (press Cmd + Spacebar, type 'terminal', and press enter).  Example:

  3. Enter the command:
    • 9.4.0+: sudo security delete-keychain "/Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/SophosSecure.keychain"; sudo security delete-keychain "/Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/Sophos.keychain"
    • 9.3.x: sudo security delete-keychain "/Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/Sophos.keychain"

      Note:
You are prompted for your password.  Enter the same password you use when installing an application or unlocking a system panel.  The password will not appear on screen but is being accepted.  Once you have enter you password press enter.  If you make a mistake just press enter to try again.

  4. Open the keychain access application (Cmd + Spacebar | Type: 'keychain' | Press enter) and confirm the Sophos chain is gone.
