This article provides information on Sophos System Protection. Sophos System Protection is a new component of the endpoint protection software providing coordination between Sophos detection engines and performing lookup as required to ensure the most up to date protection. With the release of Intercept X v2 SSP also controls which actions are performed as part of the new scanning process. The SSP acts as both a record keeper between components and correlation engine for indicators of compromise detected over time.

The service is called Sophos System Protection Service.
SSP uses SXL4 which utilizes HTTPS for lookups.
